The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has issued a warning to Australian businesses to protect against attacks being perpetrated by Russian cybercriminal groups.
CREST ANZ board member and cyber security professional Ajay Unni stated that because of the distance between Australia and Russia, cyber attacks are the most effective way to “punish” Australia for its support of Ukraine in the ongoing conflict. Because of this, businesses need to be on high alert and take a proactive stance to enhance security posture to avoid falling victim to a cyber attack.
This warning comes at a time when Australian businesses are already under significant risk of a cyber attack, with 55% of 256 data breaches reported between July and December 2021 being identified as a result of malicious or criminal attacks.

- Ramp up cyber security training and communication with employees about risks
