To combat the shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals in Australia, Microsoft and AustCyber have partnered to offer a training program to fast track individuals into the security industry.
According to SecurityBrief Australia, AustCyber estimates the country will need an additional 7,000 cybersecurity professionals by 2024 in order to keep pace with the growing cyber threat.
The skills shortage is a growing challenge in Australia, with reports that it has led to security breaches and related issues that can have a significant impact on businesses.
Called “The Cyber Security Microsoft Traineeship Program”, the program will help bring 200 individuals into the industry in the next two years. The program will provide educational training and on-site experience over the two years, to help students earn a living while working through the program.
